Things are changing! During the first ten days of classes, it was difficult to separate reading, grammar, and conversation, because you were still learning the alphabet and the sound system. The rest of this course is a little different
- All written homework is letter-graded.
- As an option, you may write English summaries of the events in the films instead of writing translations. However, if you think translating a portion of the transcript is more useful for your learning, you may continue doing so. After about 8 weeks, you can stop writing anything for the film assignments; instead, memorize a short scene from one of the clips.
- For each film class, prepare three simple questions on the assigned episodes.
You will ask these questions in class for your classmates to answer, and we'll build discussions around those exchanges.
