Ann Simmons, Moscow Bureau Chief for the Wall Street Journal, will visit the 11:20 section of this class, answer questions, and speak about her work and your interest in Russian.
Homework for both sections: Read Ann Simmons' brief bio and at least three of her articles (in English) at this URL: https://www.wsj.com/news/author/ann-m-simmons If any of the stories raise questions you would like to discuss or ask, bring them to this meeting. This will not be a lecture: Ann says that she wants to meet the students who are studying Russian at Cornell. Our Arts College selected her as this year's Zubrow Distinguished Visiting Journalist. It is a rare thing that this prominent figure happens to specialize in Russia. We strongly encourage the students in the 12:25 section to re-arrange their schedule and come at 11:20 on this day. If that is not possible, try to attend this Tuesday's 1:30 meeting in the same room. |
