Class Trips to Russian New York
No Web page can give justice to these adventures.
If you haven't gone on one of these trips yet, you
should. Most students go again and again--and when they
graduate, this is one part of their Cornell
life they miss.
Our trips to the Russian neighborhoods in New York City
are organized by Raissa Krivitsky once a year, mostly
in the fall. The group (usually twenty to thirty students)
leaves by bus early in the morning and returns the same day,
late at night. A movie is often shown on the bus, but that's
a minor part of the fun: when in the city, the group visits
Russian stores that sell music, books, and souvenirs;
eat in a fine restaurant; and attend a major show, typically
an all-stars production from Russia. It's a day of immersion
in the New York version of Russian language and culture, and it's
an unmatched experience.
