Gary Crocker: In 1975, William Beecher of the Boston Globe published a list, and a map, of all these facilities, so it was not like it was a great secret, these facilities were some great secret. Now they were mostly the military facilities, as you know, later on we find out, not just from the defector by the way, the people knew about Biopreparat before the defector comes out in '89... they had put all the pieces together and realized there was this thing, very large civilian backup to the military doing biological weapons work. But, that article names places like Omutninsk, and Kirov, and Zagorsk, I should think... oh, and the probably most important one was Sverdlovsk, that we all came to know. So there's many of these facilities, and there was about eight military facilities, but now we have a very large list and maps are published that show all of these other places, some of them out, closer out to Siberia, out in Central Asia, that we didn't know about.
