Gennadiy N. Lepeshkin: I would like to tell the story of one man who was head of the safety department, who came to work there, underwent all the training, but lacked a clear notion of what to do and how to proceed. He, personally, lacked that understanding. We had a specific procedure for working in the various areas that involved passing through a sanitary inspection checkpoint. The person would come to the checkpoint in his regular clothing. He would disrobe, then proceed along a certain hallway, exit into another area, change into work scrubs there and then proceed to work. The areas we had were divided into sections for men and women and everyone knew precisely that... when you could pass through, and where you could change clothes. He passed through the men's checkpoint, disrobed and went into the next area, but couldn't find the section where he was supposed to change into work scrubs. So he went into the hallway in his birthday suit and didn't know what to do. He knocked at the first door he came to. So, the door opens, and there are women working there. They banged the door shut in a hurry. And he knocked again, because he didn't understand what was going on. And then he realized what the mixup was all about, and the women opened the door and tossed a gown out to him and he went back. The funny story spread like wildfire. But it was a good thing that no work was going on. And he learned a lesson that he never forgot, and subsequently he became a real professional, and was quite strict with his subordinates during training, making sure that they complied with all directions and knew all requirements.
