Gennadiy N. Lepeshkin: For the most part, the workforce which came to work there consisted of civilians. They were regular researchers, usually college graduates, and people from the local community who required constant attention and care.
We focused a great deal of attention on matters of recreation for our staff. We organized group outings to the country, mushroom picking and fishing expeditions and trips to the beach.
We had a system in place where people both worked and played and it all worked out to be a very good combination. It was quite a diverse workforce. The people were generally young: there were both men and women. They had various interests, but overall, all of that fostered a good atmosphere...
a good, friendly atmosphere for all the work to be done.
