Anne Harrington: I think certainly there was pride in the work that they did, that they... felt that they had accomplished some really innovative science, they had developed some approaches to pathogens that no one else had. And I think this is something that you see often, whether it's physical properties of matter or understanding of pathogens, this quest for knowledge, this... interest in digging down layer after layer after layer of understanding, and Russian scientists are particularly good at that.
