Ступни детей загрубели от ходьбы босиком. The soles of the children's feet became calloused from walking barefoot.
После прогулки по каменистому берегу ступни её горели. The soles of her feet ached after walking along the rocky beach.
NB When the word ступня functions as a subject and does not have a descriptive modifier, the construction ступня у + Genitive is often preferred to (a) and (b), above:
Ступни у детей загрубели от ходьбы босиком. The soles of the children's feet became calloused from walking barefoot.

Restrictive modifiers

(a) adjectival modifier
(b) noun phrase: Adj + Genitive of нога
(c) prepositional phrase: на + Adj + Prepositional of нога
левая/правая ступня the sole of the left/right foot
Левая ступня у неё потрескалась. The sole of her left foot was cracked.
