Подошвы детей загрубели от ходьбы босиком. The soles of the children's feet became calloused from walking barefoot.
После прогулки по каменистому берегу подошвы её горели. The soles of her feet ached after walking along the rocky beach.
NB When the word подошва functions as a subject and does not have a descriptive modifier, the construction подошва у + Genitive is often preferred to (a) and (b), above:
Подошвы у детей загрубели от ходьбы босиком. The soles of the children's feet became calloused from walking barefoot.

Restrictive modifiers

(a) adjectival modifier
(b) noun phrase: Adj + Genitive of нога
(c) prepositional phrase: на + Adj + Prepositional of нога
левая/правая подошва the left/right sole
подошва больной ноги the sole of his injured foot
подошва на больной ноге the sole of his injured foot
Левая подошва (or подошва левой ноги or подошва на левой ноге) у него распухла. The sole of his left foot was swollen.
