Syntactic actants

Actant 1: whose eyelid it is
(a) Genitive
(b) Possessive
Вљки дљвочки бІли воспаленІ. The girl's eyelids were inflamed.
Гримёр приклљил реснќцы к её вљкам. The make-up man glued lashes to her eyelids.
NB When the word вљко functions as a subject and does not have a descriptive modifier, the construction вљко у + Genitive is often preferred to (a) and (b), above:
Вљки у дљвочки бІли воспаленІ. The girl's eyelids were inflamed.

Restrictive modifiers

(a) adjectival modifier
(b) noun phrase: Adj + Genitive of глђз
(c) prepositional phrase: на + Adj + Locative of глђз
вљрхние/нќжние вљки the upper/lower eyelids
Вљрхние вљки у дљвочки бІли воспаленІ. The girl's upper eyelids were inflamed.
NB Note that, unlike many other body parts that come in pairs, вљко cannot be modified by the adjectives лљвое and прђвое:
вљки лљвого глђза the left eyelids (upper and lower)
вљки на лљвом глазџ the (upper and lower) lids on the left eye
вљрхнее/нќжнее вљко на лљвом/ прђвом глазџ the upper/lower lid of the left/right eye
