Подћшвы детљй загрубљли от ходьбІ босикћм. The soles of the children's feet became calloused from walking barefoot.
Пћсле прогџлки по каменќстому бљрегу подћшвы её горљли. The soles of her feet ached after walking along the rocky beach.
NB When the word подћшва functions as a subject and does not have a descriptive modifier, the construction подћшва у + Genitive is often preferred to (a) and (b), above:
Подћшвы у детљй загрубљли от ходьбІ босикћм. The soles of the children's feet became calloused from walking barefoot.

Restrictive modifiers

(a) adjectival modifier
(b) noun phrase: Adj + Genitive of ногђ
(c) prepositional phrase: на + Adj + Prepositional of ногђ
лљвая/прђвая подћшва the left/right sole
подћшва больнћй ногќ the sole of his injured foot
подћшва на больнћй ногљ the sole of his injured foot
Лљвая подћшва (or подћшва лљвой ногќ or подћшва на лљвой ногљ) у негћ распџхла. The sole of his left foot was swollen.
