S. Popov: There is such as thing as moral principles, such a thing as standards. If we see society losing its... its bearings and behaving badly, then things begin to collapse. And that's what was happening in scientific, in classified scientific institutions, total collapse, because certain people were attempting, I can say this based on my own experience, I was trying to do science. But right alongside me were people who were doing the complete opposite, and they had no need for any kind of science, they were struggling to obtain a post, for example. Yeah. The principles that guided them were utterly different; instead of carrying out scientific research, they sabotaged it. And they would simply tell me, people, people from my division, or from the next one over, would say: "Come on, what do you need all of that for, all of that, pardon the expression, crap? Why are you messing around with all of that?" Yeah. "No one will ever know what's going on," they'd say.
