Gennadiy N. Lepeshkin: At first the, um, building... number 211 was put up, where the nutrient solutions are, with a railroad track leading up to it.
Those buildings in the 50 series were put up, where the ramp is, there's a railroad track there, and the 40 series buildings were put up. That is, the tails were built, they're called 'tails.' Then construction on building 211 began. And so, when we arrived, building 211 was the only one in operation. Nothing else was functioning.
Slava Paperno: Was scientific research being conducted there?
Lepeshkin: Everything there, the laboratories there...
Paperno: So when you arrived, the laboratory was already there.
Lepeshkin: There were laboratories, but nothing was being produced there, until we arrived.
Paperno: There was no research being done?
Lepeshkin: No. I arrived...
Paperno: So what were they doing there starting in 1973?
Lepeshkin: No-no-no! Nothing. Um, so, um the construction workers were just...
Paperno: Ah, the construction workers...
Lepeshkin: All of the science, the science got started after building 21 [221] was put up. And that was built in 1982.
Paperno: So for ten years, or even more, there was nothing but construction going on...
Lepeshkin: Yes.
Paperno: They didn't know, really, why they were building...
Lepeshkin: Of course not.
